benhardy Earlier this year I began to write my own novel. I struggled and questioned my language choices as I had mostly read books written by White authors. I know longer found the words on the page relatable when trying to be inspired. I then entered a world of fiction which filled me with so much joy. If you read fiction books for fun, broaden your horizons and read something written by a Black author. Many have begun to read non fiction books in order to educate themselves on why Black lives matter, which is brilliant, however, try to read a fiction book. These will make you laugh and cry as they touch you like no other text has before.

올해 초에 소설 쓰기를 시작했다. 지금까지 백인 작가들의 책을 읽었기 때문에 내 단어 선택에 확신이 없었고 애를 먹었다. 영감을 얻기 위해 책을 읽을 때에 종이 위의 단어들에 공감대 형성이 어려웠다. 그러다가 나를 행복으로 채워줬던 문학의 세계에 들어섰다. 당신이 즐거움을 위해 문학을 읽는다면, 시야를 넓혀 흑인 작가가 쓴 것들을 읽어봐라. 많은 사람들이 왜 흑인 목숨이 중요한지 ("why black lives matter")에 대해 공부하기 위해 비문학을 읽기 시작했다. 이것도 훌륭하지만, 문학도 읽어보자. 당신이 지금까지 읽었던 어느 글보다 감동시켜 울고 웃게 할 것이다.
